Darcy O’Brien is a thirty-one-year-old executive editor for Love Lines, a rom-com that’s shot in New York. She’s smart, funny, very into pop-culture, and quite happy with her life, thank you very much.
She’s managing her professional challenges quite well, putting in the work to become a co-producer, until she runs into one Wesley Jones – the same Wesley Jones whose heart she broke in high school and who she’s been able to leave behind (for the most part). But now he’s back in New York, up-and-coming actor Nolan Bryant wants her number, and Darcy is, to say the least, unsure of what she should do.
And at Love Lines Darcy has to deal with Rick, a co-writer who takes credit over ideas that aren’t his. Add into the mix her perfect brother, their changed dad, their uptight mom, and her group of friends…
At least Darcy’s got a team she knows she can count on, no matter how confused she may feel as she’s trying to find her happily-ever-after, whatever that may look like.

How did you come up with the idea for the story?
(This answer is for all four books, so yes, you’ll just read the same thing four times if you’re interested.) I can’t remember the exact moment or idea, but I know it started in 2019 in London, when I went to a bookstore with a friend (she’s not into books, she was there for me). Not long after, the Saturday lunch scene appeared in my mind, and after a few weeks, I got to see the four friends in a very distinct way. And then, plots popped up as well as secondary characters, and I got to writing.
Which is your favorite character? Why?
Well, it is Darcy’s story, so I’d have to go with her. I love how much she loves her work, how she does what she wants to do, and how she’s driven by her emotions. And Lola and Toddy.
Would you change anything in the novel?
I wouldn’t change any characters, but perhaps I would add more interactions with Darcy’s parents or Wes’s sister. And some more Libby, just to annoy Darcy.
How would you sum up the book in a sentence?
Darcy’s getting a second chance at Love, but what happens when Love’s got its reservations?
I should have never been a teenager. Why was I allowed to do that?
Was whichever god, goddess, or non-gendered deity that is out there that bored?
