After facing and overcoming threatening situations, Georgiana is back at school ready to face the last stretch of her sophomore year. But what were meant to be a few weeks of studying for exams and of having a semblance of peace, turn into days of unexpected chaos when the possibility of finding Ryan’s mother becomes very real.
Georgiana, Ryan, Sky, Henry and unanticipated—and reluctant—allies must get together to get answers as they hope to find Delia still alive. Some questions lead to information that shatters Ryan as his whole life is shown to be nothing like what he thought it was, and personal identities clash with goals as the weres look for the truth they need to find.
In the fourth book of the Five, even if the Council’s pursuit has ended, personal conflicts still abound for weres whose whole lives, and everything they’d believed to be true, come into question.

How did you come up with the idea for the story?
From the first book, when I thought about Ryan and his biggest conflict—his mother’s disappearance—I knew there would be a whole part for him and his search.
Which is your favorite character? Why?
I think that Ryan is both vulnerable and strong, and Sky, whose active and dynamic attitude I think is great.
Would you change anything in the novel?
I would have liked to include more of the Five as a group, but given that this book’s problems are more personal and specific, I found it hard to do.
How would you sum up the book in a sentence?
Ryan finds out his mom is still alive—and that his reality is far from being what he knows.

Ryan Forde paced along the hallway of Woodbridge as he waited for Sky Woodsworth’s answer.
It was Monday afternoon, and while most students were running or flying around the guarded grounds, he’d asked her to sacrifice a bit of her free time to help him out. Being the investigative and curious girl that she was, she’d agreed on the spot.
The sun shone through the windows, brightening the dark green carpet and wooden walls.
The second floor of Woodbridge had corridors that spread like a cross, just like on the first floor. Facing the north, each corridor had fifteen doors that led to thirty bedrooms for boys. In total there were sixty rooms for them, as well as two Common Rooms; the one facing the west was meant for seniors and the one facing the east, for sophomores and juniors. Each bedroom had two doors; one led to a bathroom and another to the corresponding Common Room. The girls’ rooms were the same, except that they faced the south. Most rooms were meant for two students, although some had three.
Ryan stood against the wooden wall, his dark brown curly hair almost reaching a length where he’d be forced to cut it, per the school’s policy, his strong arms crossed over his taut chest, his shoulders slumping, making him look a bit shorter than his five foot ten height, his big dark green eyes pensive and impatient, his full lips pursed, and his snub nose twitching from time to time as he could barely hold in his eagerness. He wore a dark V-neck t-shirt and dark jeans that made his dark beige skin look darker. Although he had a tendency to be serious, since he’d met Georgiana he’d found himself smiling more often, despite everything else that was going on in his life.
Ryan only had one name to help him get to his mother, and he had no idea of who it belonged to.
Even worse, his dad had gone missing two days before, and he was clueless as to what had happened to him as well.
